Are you on the hunt for the best afternoon tea in Chipping Campden? You’re in the right place!

Not too long ago, I visited Chipping Campden for the first time and, like most Cotswolds villages, it stole my heart. Those gorgeous honey-coloured cottages and the old-world vibe are impossible not to love.

But let’s be honest, what really gets me excited is a proper afternoon tea.

So, as I was wandering along this beautiful high street—trust me, Chipping Campden really is lovely—I stumbled across a few places offering afternoon tea. Naturally, I had to investigate (it would be rude not to, right?), and before I knew it, I was elbow-deep in finger sandwiches, scones, and more sweet treats than I care to admit!

In this post, I’m sharing my afternoon tea experience at The Cotswold House and throwing in a few other afternoon tea recommendations in Chipping Campden. If you’re craving a quintessentially British treat, this little gem of a town won’t disappoint.

1. The Cotswold House Hotel & Spa

For me, the best afternoon tea in Chipping Campden is at the Cotswold House Hotel and Spa. I had a really lovely experience here, which was made even better by the friendly staff.

We didn’t have a reservation, either, but if you’re visiting during peak season, I would definitely recommend booking. You’ll get to enjoy a selection of dainty sandwiches and beautifully presented cakes that are almost too good to eat—almost!

As for the restaurant, we had our afternoon tea in the Fig Room, but it can also be taken in the Bistro. The Fig Room is a bright and elegant room with large floor-to-ceiling windows. It’s got a cosy yet classy vibe, and I loved the piano music playing in the background.

To top it all, the scones were delicious, served warm, and I’m pretty sure they were fresh from the oven. There’s a beautiful garden, and since it’s directly in the centre of Chipping Campden’s High Street, it’s easy to get to.

Overall, The Cotswold House afternoon tea was a relaxing experience, which I very much enjoyed. The only downside was that I thought it was a little overpriced; it was more expensive than other afternoon teas in the area. Still, it’s worth a visit if you want a beautiful and elegant afternoon tea.

2. Badgers Hall Tea Room

For a cosy and quirky afternoon tea in Chipping Campden, I’ve read that Badgers Hall is an absolute gem. It’s nestled right on the High Street and looks like a charming and cosy spot.

Run by Karen and Paul, Badgers Hall is known for its friendly, welcoming atmosphere and attention to detail. The afternoon tea here is said to be something special—it’s all homemade.

The scones are enormous and perfectly baked, served with plenty of jam and cream. The cakes, cookies and sandwiches look equally divine, and the assortment will leave you spoiled for choice. Add a glass of Prosecco and give yourself an afternoon to remember!

What makes Badgers Hall stand out, though, is its setting. In winter, you can choose from the cosy tea room with its vintage charm and crackling log fire or the peaceful garden in summer.

Either way, it looks like a great option, and if you’re after an afternoon tea that’s both indulgent and relaxed, Badgers Hall is a must-visit.

3. Charingworth Manor

For a classic afternoon tea experience in the Cotswolds, Charingworth Manor is the perfect choice. It’s nestled in a peaceful, rural location in a beautiful 14th-century historic building.

Inside, the tea room strikes the perfect balance between modern touches and the Manor’s timeless charm. It looks warm and graceful and is the ideal setting for a delectable treat. You can also opt to sit outside on the terrace if the weather permits.

The freshly baked scones, served warm, are the undeniable stars. However, the selection of seasonal sandwiches have also been highlighted (the lemon chicken with garlic mayo was a hit among reviewers!). As for the cakes, the lemon drizzle and profiteroles are particular standouts.

Service here is also a highlight. The staff is friendly, attentive, and happy to accommodate dietary needs or make adjustments to the menu. The portions are generous, and if you can’t finish, they’ll even provide boxes to take home your leftovers!

4. Tower Barn

Although not directly in the centre of Chipping Campden, Tower Barn is only an 8-minute drive away from the village. For an afternoon tea with sensational views and a relaxed vibe, it’s worth the drive.

I have visited this cafe as it sits perched among the beautiful Broadway Tower, one of my favourite attractions in the Cotswolds but I was there for a good pot of English tea and to look around the gift shop.

The cafe features a south-facing sun terrace and is a bright and modern space that offers a tranquil escape. Although I haven’t tried the traditional afternoon tea here, it’s said to be delightful, and I did see one couple enjoying it at the opposite table.

I can tell you the service at Tower Barn is exceptional. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive, going out of their way to accommodate dietary requirements like gluten-free options.

Whether you sit indoors in the café or on the sunny terrace overlooking the stunning countryside, Tower Barn offers a beauitful afternoon tea experience.

5. Bantam Tea Rooms Chipping Campden

Bantam Tea Rooms is another lovely spot for an English afternoon tea in Chipping Campden. Nestled in a charming building dating back to 1693, it offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

The B&B itself is beautiful, blending historic character with homely touches. Many visitors love its old-world charm and central location.

Reviews for afternoon tea here have been a mix of glowing and so-so. Some rave about the freshly baked scones, describing them as a must-have, and love the thoughtful homemade touches like chutney and dressing. The Bantam Tea Rooms menu offers a cream tea, a special afternoon tea and the classics.

On the flip side, a few found the scones less impressive on their visit or felt the cake selection could be more exciting. However, the cosy atmosphere, friendly staff, and reasonable prices tend to win people over, and the tea room consistently garners praise for its charm and character.

If you’re after an afternoon tea in Chipping Campden or a light lunch in a historic setting that won’t put a hole in your wallet, Bantam Tea Rooms is certainly worth considering.

The perfect afternoon tea includes a mix of freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and jam, an assortment of finger sandwiches, and a selection of pastries and cakes.
