Essex is where I live (most of the time). It’s in the southeast of England and is a brilliant mix of seaside fun, historic cities, and beautiful countryside. Whether you’re wandering through the lively cities of Chelmsford and Colchester or escaping to its peaceful villages, there’s so much to enjoy.
Mersea Island is a gem for beach lovers and those who enjoy boating. It’s one of my favourite places for a coastal day out, especially if I’m in the mood for fresh seafood. If you’re after classic seaside fun, head to Southend-on-Sea, with its famous pier and plenty of traditional amusements.
For countryside lovers, Dedham Vale is stunning with its rolling hills and scenic walks. The pretty villages like Coggeshall, with their charming streets and historical buildings, are great for a laid-back afternoon exploring.
And the best part? Essex is only a short train ride from central London, making it ideal for a quick getaway or weekend adventure.
