Tower Bridge is one of my favourite landmarks; it’s just so beautiful. Its architecture and historical significance have made it one of the capital’s top tourist sites, and as such, it’s become almost essential to take a photo of this famous landmark as a backdrop. But that only takes a minute…
You can tour Tower Bridge and walk along its glass walkway, but then what? You’ll need more activities to fill your day! If you’re hoping to plan your day around this iconic site, here are what I consider 20 of the best attractions near Tower Bridge.
Activities and Attractions near Tower Bridge
Tower Bridge is a famous London landmark itself; however, there are plenty of things to do nearby, such as visiting the famous Tower of London and exploring the food markets. In fact, I highly rate two food markets: Borough Market and Maltby Street Food Market (both mentioned below).
There are a ton more tourist attractions, like HMS Belfast, Sky Garden (aka the top of the walkie-talkie building), and the Shard, which is just a stone’s throw away. There is also the Coppa Club Tower, a lounge bar and restaurant, which has brilliant views over the South Bank skyline.
The best thing is that there are loads of fun activities near Tower Bridge.
How do I know all this? Because one of my close friends lived there, and I used to visit this area of London A LOT. So, although this travel guide includes mainly touristy things to do near Tower Bridge, I’ve also thrown a few local ideas and hidden gems!

Getting around London from Tower Bridge
There are several tube stations nearby. However, the two closest to Tower Bridge are Tower Hill serviced by the Circle Line (Yellow) and District Line (Green), and London Bridge, serviced by the Jubilee Line (Silver) and Northern Line (Black). Both provide great transport links to the attractions within this post.
Tower Hill is on the western fringes of Tower Hamlet Borough and sits north of the River Thames, just 5 minutes from Tower Bridge. It’s also where you’ll find major attractions such as the Tower of London, the London Wall and St Katharine Docks Marina.
London Bridge is in Southwark Borough and south of the River Thames. It’s only a 10-minute walk to reach Tower Bridge. Here, the famous Borough Market is a highlight of the area, along with HMS Belfast and the Shard, which have jaw-dropping views of London’s skyline.
All these attractions near Tower Bridge are walkable from both stations, making for a great day out in one of London’s best areas!

1. St Katharine Docks Marina
I love St. Katharine Docks and it remains a hidden gem in the heart of London. This stunning marina dates back to the 12th century and is surrounded by Thames barges, sailing boats, and yachts. Since it’s only a minute’s walk away, it’s one of the best places near Tower Bridge if you don’t want to venture too far.
Now redeveloped, it’s home to a variety of restaurants, pubs, and shops and is a great place to eat. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping by as I think it’s one of the top attractions near Tower Bridge!
It’s tucked behind the Tower Hotel, just across the road from Tower Hill tube station, it’s perfect for a relaxing stroll. Here, you can admire Gloriana, Queen Elizabeth’s royal row barge, and, if you’re lucky, catch a glimpse of special visiting vessels like the impressive Spanish Galleon Andalusia.

2. Tower of London
One of the top attractions near Tower Bridge is the iconic Tower of London, built in 1086 by William the Conqueror. Though it’s been a while since I last explored it, I can confidently say it’s well worth a visit.
The Tower of London has served as a fortress, royal palace and infamous prison throughout its 1,000-year history. Located just a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge, visiting both landmarks makes for an excellent day out. It’s not necessary to book tickets in advance although I suggest pre-booking an exhibition ticket to avoid long queues.
Inside, you can explore the iconic castle, one of only four UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the capital, see the Crown Jewels and meet Yeoman Warders, also known as ‘Beefeaters’, who bring the Tower’s history to life.

3. The London Wall
The London Wall is directly outside Tower Hill tube station and is a magnificent historical gem. It was built around AD 200 and marks the Romans’ presence in what they called Londinium (now London).
If Roman history fascinates you, this quick stop near Tower Bridge is a must. The ancient wall adds a special atmosphere to the area, and it’s the perfect spot to snap a photo showcasing over 1,800 years of history, with both the London Wall and the Tower of London in the frame.
You’ll also see the statue of Trajan, the Roman Emperor who ruled from AD 98 to 117. He expanded the Roman Empire to its greatest size and is remembered as a generous leader.

4. The Skulls At St Olave’s Church, Hart Street
St Olave’s Church is one of those fascinating hidden gems in London, especially if you’re intrigued by macabre history. It is a medieval church dating back to the 12th century and is one of the few surviving buildings from before the Great Fire of London in 1666.
What makes it particularly eerie yet captivating is the skull-adorned gateway at the church entrance. Its inscription reads, “Remember Death.” The skulls remind us of mortality and the church’s historical role during London’s plague years.

5. St Dunstan in the East Church Garden
A beauitful oasis tucked away in the heart of the city, it’s one of the best-hidden attractions near Tower Bridge. Originally built around 1100, the church endured centuries of wear, including damage in the Great Fire of London in 1666.
It was Sir Christopher Wren who redesigned it, but it wasn’t until a bomb hit it during World War II destroyed much of it. Rather than rebuilding it, the ruins were turned into a serene public garden.
This is a magical spot that combines nature and architecture beautifully. You’ll notice vines and greenery climb the remaining gothic arches, creating a lovely retreat from the chaotic city. It’s a quiet space where you can sit on one of the communal benches and enjoy the surroundings.
The garden is also home to friendly squirrels, who often approach—bring some peanuts if you’d like to feed them!

6. Sky Garden
The Sky Garden is one of London’s most unique attractions, offering breathtaking 360-degree views of the city’s skyline from its lush indoor garden. It can be found at the top of the “Walkie Talkie” building and is a must-visit attraction near Tower Bridge for incredible views.
The last time I visited, I went for a sunrise yoga class. It was one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had in London. Imagine stretching and meditating as the city wakes up around you—absolutely magical! If you enjoy yoga or are looking for something a bit different, I highly recommend it.
Apart from yoga, you can simply visit the Sky Garden for free (though booking a time slot in advance is essential as it’s very popular) or enjoy a drink or meal at one of its bars or restaurants.

7. Leadenhall Market
Leadenhall Market is another one of those fantastic and fun attractions near Tower Bridge in the heart of London. It is known for its stunning Victorian architecture and lively atmosphere.
It’s a covered market is packed with boutique shops, traditional pubs, and lovely restaurants, making it a brilliant spot to wander around, grab a bite, or enjoy a drink, especially if it’s raining!
The beautiful roof and cobbled streets give it a unique, old-world charm while still feeling part of London’s buzz. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you might recognise it from the Philosopher’s Stone!
Since it’s pretty near Tower Bridge, it’s a must-see if you love history or architecture. Whether you’re shopping, eating, or just soaking it all in, I think it’s an awesome place to visit!

8. Monument to the Great Fire of London
The Monument to the Great Fire of London is a brilliant attraction with a fascinating story. Built to commemorate the Great Fire of 1666, it’s one of the city’s iconic landmarks and just a short walk from Tower Bridge.
When I first moved to London in 2010, it was one of the first sights I visited, and climbing its 311 steps was an unforgettable experience! The narrow spiral staircase is a bit of a workout, but the stunning 360° views at the top make it totally worth it.
If you love history or want a unique perspective of London, this is a must-see. Don’t forget your camera; sunset is also a great time to visit.

9. London Bridge
I just want to clear up a common misconception: London Bridge and Tower Bridge are not the same. Many people confuse the two, but London Bridge sits further west and, honestly, isn’t the most attractive structure these days.
That said, it holds great historical significance. This was the site of the first bridge built by the Romans in Londinium, dating back to around AD 50. Over the centuries, several versions of London Bridge have crossed the Thames, including the iconic medieval bridge once lined with houses and shops.
While the current London Bridge might not be the most exciting attraction near Tower Bridge, it’s an important piece of London’s history. You’ll likely pass it during your exploration, so it’s worth taking a quick photo!

10. Southwark Cathedral
You don’t need to be religious to visit the cathedrals, and Southwark Cathedral is a beautiful and peaceful gem tucked away just next to Borough Market (see below) that deserves a visit!
The great thing is it’s just a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge and can be easily added to your itinerary.
The cathedral is the oldest church building in London and features stunning medieval architecture combined with a serene atmosphere. The intricate stonework, soaring arches, and vibrant stained glass windows are a highlight and simply breathtaking.
It’s free to enter, and on quieter mornings, you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time. The cathedral often hosts unique art exhibitions and concerts, adding a modern twist to its history.
It’s a fantastic place to escape the city buzz and take a moment to reflect—or just admire its beauty.

11. Borough Market
Borough Market is hands down one of my favourite places in London. It’s a buzzing hub of food, flavours, and energy, only half a mile from Tower Bridge. The market is packed with stalls selling fresh fruit, veg, artisan goods, and street food that smells absolutely amazing.
What I love most are the quirky pop-up restaurants and the chance to try food you don’t find every day. I once bought a blue cheese here that was quite literally a dome of mould—super strong, a bit stinky, but my oh my, it was delicious!
Yes, it’s busy and chaotic, but that’s part of the charm. Go early, sample as much as you can, and maybe treat yourself to something unexpected. It’s foodie heaven and one of those must-visit attractions near Tower Bridge!

12. The View from The Shard
The Shard is one of London’s most iconic landmarks, and though I’ve been to it a few times, I’ve never actually visited the viewing platform—a classic case of a local not doing the touristy thing! However, I can tell you that the restaurants in The Shard offer stunning views, and the experience from the top is amazing.
The View from The Shard offers unparalleled panoramic views of the city, including the Tower of London and the Thames. At 1,016 feet, it’s the second tallest building in Europe (if you exclude Russia). It’s a fantastic way to see all of London from above, especially on a clear day.
It’s an unforgettable experience, whether you’re a local or a visitor, and definitely worth adding to your list of attractions near Tower Bridge.

13. London Bridge City Pier
You really can’t visit London without taking a boat ride along the Thames! The river ferry offers a fantastic and scenic way to see some of the city’s best landmarks, including Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. It’s a great way to get around while taking in the sights.
The two piers that serve as attractions near Tower Bridge are London Bridge City Pier and Tower Millenium Pier. Both are super convenient, with easy access from Tower Hill or London Bridge stations.
The views along the river are stunning, and the experience is well worth it, especially if you’re heading to places further along the river, like Greenwich. It’s also a nice activity to cross the river between Tower Hill and London Bridge.
For the most part, I’ve always found the boat ride to be smooth and comfortable and a relaxing way to take in the city.

14. HMS Belfast
I would say that the HMS Belfast is a must-visit attraction for anyone interested in history, especially naval history, or if you just want to experience a huge World War II-era warship turned museum!
You’ll find it sitting proudly on the River Thames, and offers a fascinating glimpse into life on board during the war. With nine decks to explore, you can wander from the engine rooms to the captain’s bridge, experiencing the ship’s history first-hand.
The interactive exhibits are immersive and engaging for all ages, and the views of Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and the Shard from the deck are fab, too!
Inside, the narrow staircases and tight spaces add to the authentic feel but be prepared to spend several hours exploring! As one of the top attractions near Tower Bridge, it’s an amazing experience for anyone wanting to step back in time and learn about Britain’s maritime heritage.

15. Vinegar Yard
The Vinegar Yard is a quirky outdoor street food venue near Tower Bridge that offers a laid-back yet lively atmosphere that is perfect for a fun night out. You’ll find it directly outside London Bridge station.
The outdoor space is decked out with fairy lights creating a relaxed vibe. Inside, there’s a variety of food stalls. What really sets Vinegar Yard apart is the rooftop terrace with views of The Shard, making it a great spot to hang out and grab some photos.
The place can get busy on weekends and in the evenings, so I suggest booking a table if you’re in a group. With a mix of food, drinks, and even craft stalls, it can be a great place to unwind and soak in the atmosphere.

16. White Cube Bermondsey
If you enjoy modern art, White Cube Bermondsey is one of those unique attractions near Tower Bridge and a great way to spend an afternoon in London.
It’s a contemporary art gallery which was founded in 1993 by Jay Jopling. The gallery space is impressive and features rotating exhibitions from contemporary artists.
The space is beautifully laid out, making it a relaxing place to wander around and enjoy the art. Best of all, entry is free!
After a visit, you can stroll through the nearby streets, which are full of great brunch spots, wine bars, and charming French restaurants.

17. Maltby Street Market
Maltby Street Market is hands down another one of my favourite markets in London. It’s still somewhat of a hidden gem that’s much less touristy than the nearby Borough Market, and I absolutely love it. Tucked under the railway arches in Bermondsey, this tiny alley is lined with street food stalls and local bistros that create a super charming atmosphere.
The vibe is intimate and cosy, with bars and restaurants tucked away beneath the arches. It really feels like you’ve stepped into a different world. The oyster stall here is a must-visit – I always make sure to grab a few before I leave!
It’s a great spot for foodies, and if you’re anything like me you’ll be having a field day! A few of my favourites include the pulled pork buns, prawn gyozas, and the toasted cheese sandwiches, are pretty amazing. The cakes are also delicious.
I will say it’s a bit pricey, but the food and the laid-back vibe are well worth it. Plus, it’s perfect if you want a quieter alternative to the larger markets.

18. Shad Thames & Butler’s Wharf
Shad Thames and Butler’s Wharf both serve as top attractions near Tower Bridge and is another charming and historic riverside area that’s perfect for a stroll. It’s located very close to Tower Bridge and has cobbled streets lined with converted warehouses that now house upscale apartments, offices, and a few trendy eateries.
It’s a fascinating mix of old and new, with remnants of its industrial past still visible in the iconic barrel rolls stretching between buildings. These were once used to transport spices and goods from ships to the warehouses!
Today, Shad Thames is a lovely spot to explore, offering a break from the hustle and bustle of central London. You’ll find a handful of cafes, bars, and restaurants, some with outdoor terraces offering amazing views of Tower Bridge. Anchor Tap, a historic pub built in 1761, is a great place to stop for a drink.

19. Bridge Theatre
The Bridge Theatre is a fun place to go for a night out in London. The walk along the river with views of Tower Bridge and the Tower of London sets the perfect tone.
I recently saw Guys and Dolls here, and it was fantastic—though it’s a long show at nearly three hours! In contrast to the West End, this London theatre is sleek and modern, offering great sightlines and plenty of legroom. You can book seats for comfort or stand for a more lively, immersive experience.
I suggest arriving early to enjoy the riverside views and grabbing a drink at the bar. With plenty of nearby dining options, it’s a whole evening out—highly recommended!

Tower Bridge is my favourite bridge in London and one of the most iconic landmarks in the city. Walking across it offers incredible views of the River Thames, the Tower of London, and London’s stunning skyline.
For a unique Tower Bridge sightseeing experience, you can pay to access the walkway, including the glass floor that lets you look down at the pedestrians below. The Tower Bridge Exhibition reveals fascinating details about the bridge’s history and engineering.
